Upcoming Tuesday Talks…

By admin On September 22nd, 2008

My own spiritual journey began more than 30 years ago. Along the way, I earned two Master’s degrees in advanced psychology and completed course work for my doctoral degree. Now, I’m living my passion — by helping my patients live fuller, more abundant lives.

In turn, it was my patients who encouraged me to share my unique perspective with a wider audience. So now, I’m embracing my own fears and creating new experiences for myself — just as I’ve counseled them to do.

In presenting my “Tuesday Talks” lecture series, I aim to mix psychology, physics and ancient wisdom to demonstrate how we can all tap into the universal consciousness that is both our birthright and our connection to everything that is and ever was.

This January, topics include:

Tuesday, January 6th

“Beyond the Four Agreements”.

Don Miguel Ruiz’s 1997 book, The Four Agreements, presents a simple, elegant code to live by: Be impeccable with your word. Don’t take anything personally. Don’t make assumptions. Always do your best.
On the surface of things, it may seem fairly easy to keep The Four Agreements. But there’s so much more when you dig deeper for understanding. We will explore the implications of keeping your word in all areas of your life, refusing to take thin gs personally and examining how our experiences confirm the stories we tell ourselves. Making no assumptions means stepping back from the events of our lives and, with a non-judgmental eye, observing and accessing situations and the behavior of others. Lastly, doing your best involves breaking free from addictions to anxiety, guilt and shame that are intrinsic to our life experiences.

Tuesday, January 13th

“The Law of Attraction, and the other NINE laws you need to know about”

Linda Byrne’s The Secret, the book and movie that became a national sensation, made the Law of Attraction part of the country’s vernacular. Everyone wants to attract those life experiences that make their lives more fulfilling — but there are NINE other laws that govern the universe, including The Law of Creation and The Law of Reciprocity.   Unfortunately, many people don’t know about the other laws that are at play — laws that may be keeping them from enjoying happy and fulfilled lives. This talk is about the other laws one must be conscious of in order to manifest those experiences that ultimately lead to happiness.

Tuesday, January 20th

“Getting those small moments to connect with yourself”

Shelterhouse is proud to host Shango Los, a Seattle artist and entrepreneur, for this talk. Whether sitting at a stop light or deliberately setting aside time for meditation, Mr. Los will discuss how seizing moments to go into yourself can reap physical, emotional and spiritual rewards — from increased productivity to overall peace of mind. He will explain how to make room for those precious moments in your daily routine  so you are not simply reacting to every wind that blows through your life.

Tuesday, January 27th

“Meditation for beginners”

This discussion is both a lecture and experiential event. The goal is to teach anyone interested in meditation how to meditate. I will also introduce other techniques to increase peace, tranquility and harmony in our otherwise chaotic lives. These practices are meant to help beginners learn how to step back from their energy-filled days and find those moments of creativity and solitude. Studies have repeatedly shown that reflective time and meditation improve health and relationships. Participants should wear comfortable clothing.

Each one-hour lecture begins at 7:30 p.m. and is followed by a 30-minute question-and-answer period. We will meet inside the Shelterhouse at Cal Anderson Park, located at 1635 11th Avenue on Seattle’s Capitol Hill. Space is limited.

Something to think about…
